Convention Reports

Several NC Congressional District Republican Conventions
and several of the larger NC County Conventions in 2004
considered resolutions calling for the removal of Rep. Richard
Morgan from the Republican State Executive Committee for
Party Disloyalty. Everywhere such resolutions have been
considered, they have passed overwhelmingly.

(Since County and District Conventions can't directly act
to remove him, what the conventions actually passed were
resolutions in support of a proposed State Executive Committee
resolution to remove him.)

[5/23/2004]  Morgan removed from State GOP post.  The vote of
the Republican State Executive Committee for the resolution to remove
Richard Morgan was nearly unanimous.  Only 6-8 of the 171 voting
members voted "no."  The vote of the smaller Central Committee two
days earlier was similar (24-to-1).
