The bill would ban all video poker machines in North Carolina, regardless of whether they are paying out cash payments or not, except for those on Indian Reservations. Senator Albertson is very passionate about this issue and wanted to file the bill early so we can continue with the momentum we had from last year. Once we see who is in the House leadership, we will have a better idea of our chances for passage of the video poker ban this session. Senate Bill 6 is on hold until committees can be assigned and the bill can be sent to the appropriate committee for review and discussion. Enactment into law of Senate Bill 6 is a priority for the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association.
