Tri-County Republicans Bring
Gubernatorial Candidates to the Voters
Republicans take the lead on debating the Future of North Carolina on April 7th
-Today- The GOP in Durham, Orange, and Wake counties
is gathering steam as it brings together its grassroots forces to present the
Republican Gubernatorial candidates message of leadership for North
Carolina. On Wednesday, April 7th,
at the Embassy Suites in Cary, Republicans invite the public to join them
in celebrating the Future of North Carolina at a Gala that will be followed by
a spirited Forum of its primary candidates for Governor.
Local
Republican leaders and the NC GOP
Chairman, Ferrell Blount, will host the Tri-County Gubernatorial Gala
and Forum. The Forum moderators will
be Jerry Agar, host of the “Jerry Agar Show” on News/Talk 680 WPTF and Andrew
J. Taylor, Ph.D., Associated Professor of Political Science at North Carolina
State University. Candidates will
face questions from the moderators, each other, and forum attendees. Participating in the Forum will be all seven
of the Republican Gubernatorial candidates– Patrick Ballantine, Dan Barrett,
Bill Cobey, Timothy Cook, George Little, Fern Shubert, and Richard Vinroot.
“Republicans
in Orange County are energized—we see that North Carolinians are ready for a
change in our state leadership and we are taking this opportunity to showcase
our candidates to the voters,” says Doug Biddy, Chairman of Orange County
GOP. “Each of these candidates has
demonstrated that they can lead North Carolina and shape its future for the
good of all North Carolinians.”
“Wake
County Republicans are eager to get the opportunity to show the voters the
leadership promise that the Republican candidates have for North Carolina, says
Marilyn Avila, Chairman, Wake County GOP. “The 2004 election battle for North Carolina Governor will be crucial
to shaping the future of North Carolina. This Forum will be that
opportunity-voters are taking notice.”
“The
Republican voters in Durham County are enthusiastic about their choices in GOP
candidates for North Carolina Governor and are encouraged that we will see a
change of leadership in North Carolina, says Jack Steer, Chairman, Durham
County GOP. “This event will help
them make the right Republican choice for North Carolina.”
