Do Shaver’s Letter (May 2, “Clarification Needed On Role of Burton”) itself needs clarification. She wrote about a letter that I distributed at the Sixth District Republican Convention, that it was “signed by Dave Burton, ‘Webmaster for the Moore County GOP Web Site’ — extremely misleading!”

Actually, my letter (which you can read at www.MooreGOP.org) did not say that, nor anything like it. Www.MooreGOP.org is not the Web site of the Moore County GOP. It is the leading independent news and political information Web site for Moore County Republicans.

Our Web site makes that perfectly clear. The first thing you see when you go to www.MooreGOP.org is this statement:

“This is not the Web site of the Moore County Republican Party! The official web site of the Moore County, NC Republican Party is www.mooregop.com”

How is that confusing?

Www.MooreGOP.org is packed with accurate, in-depth information about taxes, spending, redistricting, social issues, the inner workings of the N.C. General Assembly, upcoming Republican events, and more.

Mrs. Shaver also claimed that “Mr. Burton has become an avowed, outspoken enemy of Rep. Richard Morgan.”

Actually, the converse is true. Morgan declared political war on North Carolina Republicans (like me) and allied himself with the Democrats. That’s why the 203 delegates to the Wake County Republican Convention voted unanimously — unanimously! — to recommend expelling Rep. Morgan from the Republican State Executive Committee for Party Disloyalty.
