For Lottery, Against Morgan

I hope in the upcoming primary, voters in this district voting for nomination of a Republican for state representative will bear in mind that Mr. Richard Morgan has voted continually against a referendum for lottery.

I wrote Mr. Morgan a while ago, pointing out I know of no moral or legal reason not to have a lottery and that an argument that poor people will spend all their money on the lottery just does not hold water.

I pointed out that hundreds of thousands of dollars are leaving North Carolina for surrounding states that have lotteries. I pointed out that a lottery could help ease the tax burden on the poor and middle class and perhaps assist in our budget problems. I then asked for his reason for voting against it all the time.

His reply to me gave no reason, but merely stated we would have to agree to disagree on the matter.

In the primary, you may rest assured I will think hard and fast before placing my vote.
