The letter written by William Thurman (April 16) was amusing. How could someone be so wrong about the facts? (Not to mention Mr. Thurman’s propensity to be obnoxious and vindictive.) I hope that all Morgan supporters are not so proud and arrogant to assume that they have all the facts and the rest of us are just mindless people running around, not knowing who can best serve Moore County as our state representative. Most of the Republicans I know are well informed and looking for a choice. Apparently, judging by the full-page ad in The Pilot today, Peggy Crutchfield does have money for her campaign. Those ads are not cheap. Unlike Richard Morgan, she does not have 90 percent of her campaign support flowing in from places other than Moore County. Only 10 percent of the $600,000 that Richard Morgan has raised for his campaign came from Moore County. Peggy Crutchfield does have a record of bringing diverse groups of people together for the good of the community through her work with First Health, teaching in schools, the United Way and Keep Moore County Beautiful. I find that to be a quality that every legislator should have. It will be refreshing to have a representative who will not have back-room deals as a part of her agenda I can appreciate a candidate whose goal is to spend less of the taxpayers’ money by decreasing government spending. Richard Morgan voted for the budget that raised spending to $1.2 billion. That speaks volumes to me! If Morgan has been working as hard for the people of Moore County as Thurman claims, the vote on July 20 will reflect that, especially since Morgan must win Moore County to be re-elected.
