We Need More Morgans

Richard Morgan has been elected six times by the voters of Moore County to represent them in the legislature. As he has gained in experience and seniority, he has wielded increasing prestige and authority from being recognized by his peers as an effective legislator.

The voters in Moore County have benefited from this increase in his stature by his increasing ability to accomplish that which his constituency needs or wants. In spite of the caterwauling of those whose derogatory comments you quoted, none of them will decide if Speaker Morgan is returned to the legislature after the next election. Only the registered voters in Moore County will make that decision, not the special interests in Wake County, Mecklenburg County or any other counties in between.

There is absolutely no question about the past and present integrity of Richard Morgan. This has stood and now stands in the way of special interests who continually try to get legislation passed in Raleigh benefiting them, but not the citizens of North Carolina.

As you are an investigative reporter, I suggest that you examine the activities of the lobbyists for the video poker gambling interests, the lobbyists for a North Carolina state lottery, and activists for the far-right anti-abortion movement. Get out the filed campaign contribution reports, which are public records, of those now opposing Richard Morgan and see for yourself how much they have received in contributions from these special interests!

Some of this information may help to explain the vitriolic comments made about our Moore County representative. It is my intention to fully support Richard Morgan in the forthcoming election. I wish there were more like him elected to our legislative bodies!
