Dear Friends,

As you know, for years people have asked me to reconmmend candidates, so I always send a list out to my Address Book. I think many of us are unsure since we can't know them all, & in the case of the judges, there is no R or D beside their names on the ballot to help us.  I do a short, quick study of the ones I don't know personally, but of course, you are free to ignore & delete this. You are also free to forward it, as there are many people who share our uncertainty & appreciate having the info from you.

I always look for conservative, preferably Christian, candidates.

In this particular election, the judicial races are very difficult because we have several good candidates.  (What a great problem to have!)  For instance, one seat on the Appeallate Court, will be decided by Instant Runoff, in which you must vote for 3, prioritizing your choices: # 1; # 2; # 3 & you can't use a name twice.  This is instead of having an actual runoff election at the polls between the top 2 vote-getters.

****Note info below re the special Court of Appeals election in which you vote for 3, prioritizing your choices.

I recommend:

Straight Party  Republican  This year, I believe that to be a no- brainer!
That covers all partisan races, including US. Senate;  US House;  NC Senate;  NC House;  County Commissioners;  Clerk of Superior Court;  Sheriff
If you would like to see their names, go to  www.wakegop.org for a list.

Non-Partisan Offices ( in order of their appearance on absentee ballot ) :

NC Supreme Court ( Statewide ): Barbara Jackson

Court of Appeals (Statewide ) :  Sanford Steelman;  Ann Marie Calabria;  Steven Walker;  Dean Poirier

*****  IRV Court of Appeals seat ( last race on the back bottom of ballot ) has Instant Runoff Voting wherein you vote for 3 in your priority order. There are 13 candidates: four Republicans (Garner, McCullough, Dillon, Fowler), and 9 Dems/Inds.  This is really hard because we have several excellent candidates.  I have discussed this w/some conservative Christian elected officials & attorneys, and they all agree the priority choices aren't easy, and they all agree that Garner, McCullough & Dillon should be among your 3 choices.  Please go to their websites linked at www.ncgop.org to learn about them; here are a few notes:

*Dan Garner is a fine Christian man who shares our values ( He has 11 children ages 14-30, all home-schooled & 7 college grads so far! ) & is the son-in-law of the originator of Bible Study Fellowship in Raleigh, Arlene DeJong, whom many of you know & love. MBA & JD UNC-CH.

*Doug McCullough is an experienced Appellate Court Judge.

*Chris Dillon is also a wonderful Christian young man, attorney & businessman, son of C.A. & Mildred Dillon, longtime leaders in the Christian community in Raleigh

These 3 all come highly recommended.

Garner as my # 1 priority, primarily because I think he might have a better chance to win.
McCullough # 2;  Dillon #3.  All of them are great choices.

IMPORTANT: Both Supreme Court & Appeals Court races are statewide, so pass these names onto friends all across NC!

District Court 10 (Wake Co.):  Brad Sahl;  V.A. Woofer Davidian;  Ned Mangum;  Michael Denning;  EITHER Kris Bailey or Dan Nagle, both very good.

Water & Soil Supervisor:  No recommendation

Constitutuional Amendment that no person convicted of a felon may serve as sheriff:  FOR

Thank you for prayerfully considering  my recommendations, & God bless you for voting. Don't let anything stop you!
