Dear Wake County Republicans:
Republicans STAND UP!
The Democrats are on the move. Oh, they may look and sound like they are in disarray with a state party chair who refuses to resign when his party demands it, and sexual harassment charges all over the press.
But, don’t you believe it!
With many offices in the local area and money flowing into the county from out-of-state to support their candidates, the Democrat machine is already in high gear.
It started last October and November with their declared goal of taking back the Wake County School Board. We had recruited the best Republican candidates we could. We ran great races in several districts. We talked about the issues and the progress made so far under the Republican majority. Since 2009 when the Republican majority took over, we were proud of how the school board was spending more on education and less on administration.
We knew there was still more work to do, but after cutting $22 million out of the budget without cutting a single teacher and consolidated 5 buildings of administrative staffing into 1 building with $29 million in projected savings over the next 10 years, we just knew we would prevail.
The Democrats showed up and screamed TEA PARTY! They proposed no new ideas, no new vision, and no help for our children. They just wanted the power back! And, the Wake County voters gave it to them.
Did you vote? Did you volunteer? Did you donate?
Thomas Jefferson said: “We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority WHO PARTICIPATE.”
So, I have three questions for you:
What are YOU prepared to do?
Are YOU ready to STAND UP?
Are YOU ready to PARTICIPATE?
The Democrats have hit the ground running. They are organizing, raising money, and recruiting people to their cause. Their money affords them a dedicated, full-time, and paid staff. And, they are plotting not only a continuation of what we have had under Barak Obama and Bev Perdue, but more of the same: more spending, more debt, less choice, less freedom, and a future that is uniquely unAmerican.
So, who is going to stop them?
If not YOU, then who?
If not NOW, then when?
If you want to reverse the failed policies of the past, if you want to chart a new direction toward a better Wake County, if you want to reduce government debt and grow our local economy, Wake GOP needs three KEY things from YOU:
- We need your Time
- We need your Talents
- We need your Donations
The stakes are very high for our families and our future – 2012 may be the most important elections in our lifetime!
Please talk to your neighbors and become active. Don’t wait for the call or the knock at the door. By then, it will be too late.

THINGS OF SPECIAL NOTE:
- I also wanted you to know that in our Convention Program there was an ad on the back cover for Bill McManus, a Republican candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture.. That ad was a full-cover ad costing $1,000. We received a check from that candidate, but after the convention, we received a notice from the bank that his committee had stopped payment on that check. We have made numerous efforts to collect this debt, but have been unsuccessful. We must make all efforts to collect this debt or it will be construed as a contribution. We cannot make any such contribution in a primary contest. So, I have sent a filing to the Mecklenburg Courts to collect this debt. I am sorry to have to go to this length, but it is not fair to the good candidates who paid for their advertising at the convention and the precinct meetings. For your information, Republican Steve Troxler is the incumbent Commissioner of Agriculture, and is on the ballot running against Bill McManus.
- If you are a Precinct Chairman or a House District Chairman please make sure that you pick up (2) Nagle/Gilliam Signs and (1) Volunteers needed sign per precinct Plus your Voter guides to be handed out. (see pictures below)
- We can register right now to attend the North Carolina Republican Convention in Greensboro. Go to www.NCGOP.org and click on the link to register for the Sate Convention. Any concerns about whether we will be seated as delegates have been resolved and we have been duly accredited as delegates! See you there to celebrate our great Wake county party activities!!!
- Have you been to our new headquarters yet? We look forward to greeting you and tapping your brilliance to make our effort even more successful!!!! P.S. We still need folding chairs and computers at the headquarters!
- Our candidates for Judges of the Appellate Court, David Robinson, Chris Dillon and Marty McGhee need your contributions NOW!!! We have only until May 8 to give them individual contributions -- $10@ helps them qualify for public financing.

Early Voting is OPEN for the May Primary!
Here are the details:
By the way, as the ballots were printed, we Republicans have to turn ours over in order to find the Non-Partisan Judicial Ballot, and the Constitutional Amendment ballot. On the Democrat, Unaffiliated or Libertarian ballot, this is not the case. A dirty trick? Who knows? But please do remember to vote both sides of your ballot!
We are expecting heavy turnout for our Republican candidates and for the Constitutional Amendment Protecting Marriage.
So remember, Go Vote!
Our new headquarters opens on Tuesday, April 24 at 9 a.m. We need many workers to help, and our phone banking begins next week as well!

WE ALSO NEED DONATIONS OF MONEY OR SUPPLIES:
In order to run the volunteer office effectively, we do need to be properly set up. If you have any of the following items, would you please let me know and bring them to the office THIS FRIDAY, so that we are ready for Tuesday’s opening.
We need to borrow 10 laptops or PCs for our get out the vote effort.
We also need:
- Office supplies – paper, pens, tape, etc

- Paper Supplies – paper towels, plates, cups, utensils

- Tables – card tables, or rectangular
Cash, checks or credit card donations are VERY much needed! We have a HUGE job to do – and most of it takes money. We do NOT have the rich liberals to help, like the other side does. Please go to http://www.wakergop.org/ to donate, or come and see us at the office!
We need your help in whatever way you are able. Thank you for whatever you can do.
